1. When customers are happy, this is the measuring guide of a business
The job of management is not to control people, its to build great teams. The greatest asset in any business is their people, but problems cannot be solved by a few ‘super stars’ in the business, its only when we accept that everybody in the business has value, we can liberate energy and imagination and the momentum that we need to create the best beyond measure.
2. Everyone should understand the business
When companies move fast with agility its because they are collaborative. Those in powerless positions aren’t about to complain about bullying bosses, abusive supervisors or corrupt co-workers. When conditions are created in which everyone can do their most courageous thinking together, production and profits escalates.
3. Key is social connectedness to each other.
Companies need to uphold their values, people can’t be what they can’t see. What motivates people is the bonds, loyalty and trust they develop with each other. Teams that work together build trust and last longer which builds value. NO ideas are born fully formed – like a baby, starts off bit messy, confused but full of possibilities. Working together is so much more productive and less time wasting when people can be freer in the workplace instead of struggling to be at the top of the “pecking order” that prevents people from collaborating and exchanging their best ideas.
4. Successful businesses aren’t motivated by super performers or super humans
This way of working only leads to aggression, dysfunction, and waste. If the most productive is to suppress productivity of the rest, then we badly need to find a better way to work and a richer way to live.
Helpfulness outperforms individual intelligence, what drives helpfulness is people getting to know each other. One of the sad truths about leadership is that, the higher up the ladder they are the less they care about the person below them. The makings of a successful long term business is knowing that teams are like ‘the mortar’ not just “the bricks” leaders at the top, that hold the cohesiveness of a progressive company.
Everyone should be able to handle the truth, the reason its hard is because we don’t practice and just need to keep this this new mindset current.
